The next evolution in regulated power delivery the DNA40 now offers the user the ability to set and adjust the temperature limit of the coil, and this latest version has both Celsius and Fahrenheit control. The larger OLED display area is 96 x 16 on the previous versions.
The display shows ohms, voltage, and temperature settings on one screen.
The DNA40 is a power regulated digital switch-mode DC-DC converter featuring Evolv's patented wattage control, all new temperature protection to keep from burning your liquids and wicks, preheat, step up/step down topology now from 2-40 watts, and also including reverse battery protection. The board features digital user controls with easy to read OLED screen, on-board buttons and synchronous rectification for maximum battery life and minimal heat generation. Quite simply the most advanced mod controller ever made.
The mounting configuration of the DNA40 has also had an improvement with the addition of removable mounting rails. This additional material provides mounting holes but it can also be removed if the standard size DNA mounting is required.
The DNA40 directly measures and limits the temperature of the heating coil during operation. Prevention of excess heat at the coil not only avoids charring of the wick material but also reduces the breakdown of flavouring and base liquid components thus improving the user experience of the device this board is installed.
To benefit from the temperature limit settings a coil made from Nickel 200 wire is required. Standard Nichrome or Kanthal A1 will not allow temperature control.
To switch modes:
From Locked Mode, holding down both the up and down buttons for two seconds will place the device in Max Temperature Adjust mode. Once this mode is entered, the max temperature will be displayed. The up and down buttons are used to adjust the max temperature. To switch from Fahrenheit mode to Celsius mode, adjust the temperature down below 200F and the DNA 40 will display degrees in Celsius. Once in Celsius mode, use the same procedure to switch back to Fahrenheit.
